On the 30th July 2011 the Siamese Cat Joint Advisory Committee held a seminar on 'Type vs Colour'. The seminar was again held in North Yorkshire and as with the previous year it proved to be a hugely successful day! There were nineteen beautiful cats in attendance with each of the tables full of breeders, judges and exhibitors from up and down the country. The instructing judges in attendance were Norma Farnsworth, Jackie Reed, Craig Dryden, Harry Meekings, Bruce Bennett and Janet Starr. Candidates in attendance were Joan Pounds, Sarndra Devereux, Jane Hagger and Joan Smith.
Our six judges described to the breeders and judging candidates the finer points of colour and type and how to find a balance between the two when considering the overall quality of the cat. As has been said many times before a cat is a sum of all it qualities and faults and the seminar reinforced that colour and type both had to be considered!
Questions and discussion were welcomed throughout the day and lively and interesting debate was the order of the day. As usual the Caramels and Apricots were the subject of much discussion as where the Blues, Chocolate and Cinnamons!!!
The day was filled with fantastic cats, wonderful company and was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Siamese Cat Breeder would once again urge any serious Siamese Cat Breeder to attend future seminars, the seminars are not just for our judging candidates they are also an amazing opportunity for our breeders to learn about our chosen breed.
A special mention must go to Marion Evans and her amazing team for once again running such a wonderful seminar. Not to forget the six Judges and also of course the owners of the exhibits, without them there would be no seminar! Siamese Cat Breeders reporter is already looking forward to next years seminar. Below are some of the videos of the day. |
