Mr R Davies Chocolate Pointed Critiques 2015

Many thanks to Barbie James and the committee of the Chocolate Pointed Siamese Cat Club for the kind invitation to judge at their show this year. A lovely friendly show with some excellent cats and kittens. Assisted on the day by my friend Siobhan Burnett who worked hard all day, handled the cats with care and expertise and was also excellent company.

CLASS 336 – Red Point Adult

BOB – 19 Richards’ Ch Mafdet Debikat Maserati (SIA d) M 1y 2m – Red boy of good type. Broad head with large ears set in line with his slightly pinched medium length wedge. Slight depression above the brow to his otherwise straight profile. He has a firm chin and a scissor bite. Eye shape and set are both oriental and the colour is a brilliant blue that could show better depth. Long neck and body, tall legs and neat oval feet. His tail is long and tapered. Points colour is a slightly pale reddish gold and his body is warm white with minimal tonal shading to back and flanks. Coat is slightly long but lies close to the body and is fine in texture. Temperament and presentation both excellent.

CLASS 338 – Red Point Neuter

BOB – 23 Sheldon’s IGP Johpas Coeur D’Or (SIA d) MN 3y 9m –  Superb type to this red boy. Lovely broad head with large ears that are set in line with his even wedge. Straight profile with a firm chin and a scissor bite. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a brilliant intense blue of very good depth. Large muscular boy with a long neck, well-toned body, tall legs and neat oval feet. His tail is long and tapered. Points are a matching bright reddish gold and his body is warm white with some tonal shading evident. Coat is slightly long, lies close to the body and is fine in texture. Relaxed boy who handled well. Well prepared in tip top condition. Just my cup of tea.

Also considered –

21 Chandler’s Gr Pr Johpas Petit Bisous (SIA d) MN 1y 4m – Very good type to this boy. Broad head with large ears that are set in line with his even wedge. His profile is straight and he has good depth to his chin and his bite is scissor. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a brilliant blue that for perfection could show more depth. Long neck, long well fed body, tall legs and neat oval feet. Pleasing rich bright reddish gold matching points colour with the body being warm white and showing heavy tonal shading. Coat is short, close lying and fine in texture. Temperament and presentation both excellent.

22 Janicki’s IGP Shermese Diablo-Rosso (SIA d) MN 2y 5m – Shy red boy of very good type. Good width to head with large ears set in line with his long pinched wedge. He has a bony protrusion to back of the head which detracts from his head type. Straight profile with a firm chin and a scissor bite. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a brilliant blue of good depth. Very long boy with elegant neck, long well-toned body, long fine legs and neat oval feet. His tail is long and tapered and balances him well. Reddish gold matching points that could be brighter. Body is warm white and free from shading. Coat is slightly long but lies close to the body and is fine in texture. Despite his shyness he was easy to handle. Well prepared.

CLASS 352 – Havana Kitten

1st BOB – 10 Bauerfeind’s Alario Patchouli (OSH b) M 8m 1w –  Very large older kitten with excellent type, he could easily have competed in the adult class and he very nearly did! Broad head with large ears that he does hold low until relaxed, once relaxed they do fall into line with his even wedge. Profile is straight and he has a firm chin with a level bite. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a deep vivid green. Excellent expression. He does have an intermittent squint to his left eye. Very well grown boy with long neck, strong muscular body of good length, tall legs and neat oval feet. His tail is long and tapered and balances him well. His coat is chestnut brown, ideally could show more warmth and is sound to the root. Coat is short, fine in texture and lies close to the body. Temperament and presentation both excellent.

CLASS 388a – Oriental Classic or Mackeral Tabby Male Kitten

1st BOB – 40 Edwards’ Hemlock Neon Jungle (OSH em 22) M 5m – Apricot classic boy of good type in rather a bad mood today. Broad head with large ears set in line with his even wedge. He has a straight profile with a firm chin and level bite. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a mid-green. Well grown boy with a long neck, long muscular body, tall legs and neat oval feet. His tail is long and tapered. Intense tone apricot markings which are sound to the root. Two necklaces to chest virtually unbroken, M to forehead, tail well ringed and bracelets to legs. Butterfly markings on shoulders could be more distinct. Solid spine line travelling down from the butterfly to the tail. Two tram lines running parallel with each of the three lines separated from the other by pale apricot ground colour. Oysters to flanks are solid and each surrounded by broken rings. The rings around the oysters are almost touching the outer tram lines and ideally I would like to see more ground colour separating them. Markings are fairly well matched to both sides. Tabby markings well matched for colour as is the ground colour, paler spots and ground colour under the belly. Coat is short, fine in texture and lies close to the body. Well prepared boy.

CLASS 388b – Oriental Classic or Mackeral Tabby Female Kitten

1st – 41 Cherry’s Ciatra Acinny Scilla (OSH o 22) F 8m 2w – Sweet cinnamon classic girl with a few pattern issues. Head needs more width, her large ears are held slightly high and are not in line with her slightly pinched wedge. She has a straight profile and a firm chin with the bite being untidy but level. Oriental eye shape and set that she tends to hold a little full, the colour being a mid-green. Slender girl with a long neck, lithe body, fine legs and neat oval feet. Her tail is long and tapered. Cinnamon markings could show more warmth, are unsound and show heavy agouti invasion. Her ground colour is a light cinnamon colour. She has two unbroken necklaces, M to forehead, fairly well defined butterfly, solid spine line just visible which travels down from butterfly to her tail. Tram lines running either side are extremely faint showing no real definition. On each flank she has a solid oyster surrounded by indistinct broken rings. Markings are not well matched to both sides. Tabby markings though lacking warmth are well matched for colour. Her ground colour is also well matched, she has paler cinnamon spots and paler ground colour under her belly. Her coat is short, lies close to the body and is fine in texture.

CLASS 400 – Oriental Bicolour Kitten

1st – BOB w/h – 47 Edwards’ Hemlock Slinky Malinki (OSH b 03 24) M 5m 2w – Very slender chocolate spotted bicolour boy with the most gorgeous type. But sadly he does not meet the breed standard for the amount of white required. Broad head with large ears set in line with his very slightly pinched wedge. He has a straight profile, firm chin and a tidy bite which is level. Eye shape and set are both oriental with the colour being emerald green. He is a very fine boned and slender boy and could easily be mistaken for a female. He has a long slender neck, long very slender body, fine boned legs and neat oval feet. His tail is long and tapered. Rich warm chestnut brown tabby markings with spine line breaking and spots to body being round, evenly distributed and sound to the root with some minimal agouti invasion. Ground colour is warm bronze. He has forty five percent white to face, white to chest traveling in a very thin line all the way down to the lower abdomen. Front legs show eighty percent white and his back legs show only fifteen percent. No white to his back or sides. In total he has just under thirty percent white. Coat is short, close lying and fine in texture. Temperament and presentation both excellent. Exquisite type, just needs a paint job.

CLASS 422 – Debutante Adult

1st – 15 Baughan’s Mapu Cressi (SIA b 21) F 9m 2w – Young chocolate tabby girl of good type. Good width to head with large ears set in line with her wedge. Profile is straight and she has a firm chin with a level bite. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being brilliant blue of good depth. Needing a growth spurt this slightly small girl has a long neck and slender body, fine legs and neat oval feet. Tail is long and tapered. Almost matching copper toned chocolate tabby markings with M to forehead, single cheek ribbons, thumb prints to ears, paler leg bracelets and her tail shows rings to half the length. Body is ivory in colour and free from shading. Coat is short, fine in texture an lies close to the body. Well prepared girl with lovely temperament.

2nd – 27 Sharp-Popple’s Denson Albert (OSH b) M 10m – Lovely colour to this young boy. Head shows good width with large ears that are set in line with his slightly pinched short wedge. Profile is straight and he has a firm chin and level bite. Eyes are round, straight set and the colour is yellow rather than the desire bright vivid green. Medium size boy with a slender neck, medium length to body, fine legs and neat oval feet. His tail is tapered and of a balancing length. Coat colour, which is easily his best feature, is a rich warm chestnut brown but unfortunately is also very unsound. Coat is short, lies close to the body and is fine in texture. A little shy and at first unwilling to come out of his pen to be judged but once he felt reassured he was happy to be judged.

Body is ivory in colour and is free from shading. Short coat that lies close to the body and in is fine in texture. Lovely show temperament and presented to perfection. Lovely boy right up my street.

Slender neck, medium length slender body, fine legs and neat oval feet. His tail is long and tapered. Developing pale milk chocolate points colour. Body is ivory in colour and free from shading. Coat is short, lies close to the body and is fine in texture. Excellent temperament and condition.
