Mr R Davies Oriental Cat Association Critiques 2015

Many thanks to Irene Rothwell and the committee of the OCA for their invitation to judge at this year show. A wonderful show with some truly stunning cats. My thanks to Heather Roper for all her hard work at such a busy show.

CLASS 511 – Oriental Lilac Kitten

1st – BOB w/h – 50 Walter’s Bookends Taylor Coleridge (OSH c) M 6m 2w – Lilac boy of good type. Head shows just enough width with large ears set in line with his very slightly pinched wedge. Profile is straight and he has a firm chin with a level bite. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being mid green. Very well grown boy with long neck, strong body, tall legs and neat oval feet. His tail is long and tapered and balances him well. Coat is a slightly dark grey and sound to the root, there is no evidence of a pinkish tone. He has a very subtle brownish overtone to his coat but no evidence of a metallic sheen and I was happy to except him as lilac. He did have a small cluster of white hairs to his groin which was my reason for withholding the BOB. Coat is short, close lying and fine in texture. Temperament excellent.

CLASS 576 – Cinnamon Point Neuter

1PC BOB – 12 Derrick’s Nightqueen Spice Of Life (SIA o) MN 9m – Cinnamon boy of good type at his first adult show. Broad head with large ears that are wide at the base and set in line with his even wedge that he does bonnet forward. Profile is straight and he has a firm chin with an untidy scissor bite. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a brilliant intense blue of very good depth. Size in keeping with his age, long neck and body, tall legs and neat oval feet. His tail is long and tapered. Points are a matching warm cinnamon brown with the legs being slightly paler. Body is ivory and clear from shading. Coat is short, fine in texture and lies to the body. Excellent temperament and presentation.

CLASS 592 – Tortie Point Adult

1CC – 28 Hocken’s Hydinisy Coco Chanel (SIA f) F 9m 4w – Seal tortie girl of good type. Good width to head with large ears set in line with her slightly pinched wedge. Profile almost straight with a slight depression the forehead. Firm chin with a scissor bite. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a brilliant blue of good depth. Medium in size and just big enough for her age. Long neck and body, fine legs and neat oval feet. Her tail is long and tapered. Points are seal brown broken by varying shades of red. Mingling to head, tail and all four feet. Body is cream with some tonal shading. Coat is slightly long but has a fine texture and lies close to the body. A little shy but happy to be handled.

w/c – 29 Miller’s Jakurtzzi Spellcaster (SIA k) F 1y – Entered as a caramel tortie but is actually a blue tortie. Head has just enough width and her large ears are set in line with her slightly pinched wedge. Profile is straight and she has a firm chin with a scissor bite. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a brilliant blue of acceptable depth. A well grown girl that has good muscularity. Long neck and body, fine legs and neat oval feet. Her tail is long and tapered. Light blue points with mask, feet and tail all broken with cool toned cream, her ears showing tortie mingling of a slightly hot toned cream. Body is glacial white with some very slight tonal shading. Nose leather and paw pads both blue showing no evidence of any brownish purple colour. Coat is short and fine in texture and lies close to the body.

BOB – 30 Cook’s Gr Ch Tianlex Doyouknowwhoiam (SIA f) F 1y 11m – Seal tortie girl of very good type. Broad head with large ears set in perfect alignment to her slightly pinched wedge. Profile almost straight with just a slight nose bump, chin is firm. She has an untidy level bite. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a brilliant blue of acceptable depth. A well grown girl with good muscle tone. She has a long neck and body with fine legs and neat feet. Her tail is long, slightly thick and shows minimal taper. Seal brown points that are well matched and show varying shades of red tortie mingling to head, tail and all four feet. I would ideally like to see more red. Body is cream and shows tonal shading. Coat is slightly long, fine in texture and lies close to the body. Excellent presentation, some hiss

Eye shape and set both oriental with the colour being a brilliant blue of acceptable depth. Long neck and body, tall legs and neat oval feet. Her tail is long and tapered. Dense seal brown point colour that could show more warmth. Body shows extensive tonal shading but shows clear contrast to her points. Excellent temperament and presentation. Friendly girl.
