My sincere thanks to Veda, Betty, Suzanne and the entire committee of the Teesside Cat Club for their kind invitation to judge at their show this year. Fantastic cats and kittens, wonderful hospitality and surrounded by lovely company. My thanks to my friend Bill Holdsworth for his assistance and good company as my steward. He handled the cats with care and expertise and I wish him well in his progress through the stewarding scheme.
CLASS 551 – Oriental Black Kitten
1st BOB – 162 Cassar-Simmonds’ Fiordiliso Jayjay’s Jewels (OSH n) M 28/2/2015 – Excellent type to this young black boy. Broad head with large ears that set in line with his even wedge. Straight profile which shows excellent depth. Chin is firm and his bite is level. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a deep shade of green. Well grown boy with a long elegant neck, lithe body, tall legs and neat oval feet. His tail is very long and tapered. Short coat which is jet black and sound to the root, lies close to the body and is fine in texture. Temperament excellent. A real pleasure to judge and later my best Oriental kitten.
CLASS 552 – Oriental Blue Kitten
2nd – 1st & BOB w/h – 163 Masters’ Enigmatic Die Fleidermous (OSH a) F 31/3/2015 – Excellent type to this young blue girl. I was very disappointed that I was required to withhold first prize for such a beautiful kitten. Strong balanced head type with a broad head and large ears that are set in line with her even wedge. Excellent depth to profile which is almost straight with just a small depression above the brow. She has a firm chin that lines up beautifully with the nose and she has a tidy level bite. Oriental eye shape and set with bright green eyes of good depth. Size in keeping with her age, she has a slender neck, body still developing for length, fine legs and neat oval feet. Her tail is long and tapered. The coat is sound to the root with a darker shade of blue to the top of the hair shaft, when parting the coat it is a lighter shade of blue underneath. Sadly she has an extensive scattering of white hairs to her groin which left me no option but to withhold first place. Beautiful temperament and condition. A quality kitten.
CLASS 609 – Tortie Point Siamese Adult
BOB – 174 Veal & Smith’s Ch Mullsi Wish Upon A Star (SIA h) F 13/4/2014 – Striking chocolate tortie girl not in best of moods today. Broad head with very large ears that she holds low and insists on bonneting the majority of the time. When she is relaxed and not trying to tuck her ears under her chin they do actually fall in line with her even wedge. Profile shows a dip below the brow and also a nose bump. Chin is firm and her bite is level and tidy. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being brilliant blue of good depth. Long neck and body, fine legs and neat feet. Tail is long and tapered. All points are dark chocolate broken by shades of red mingling. Ivory body which shows some shading to flanks. Coat is short, fine in texture and lies close to the body. Well prepared girl in a stinker of a mood.
CLASS 622 – Caramel Point Siamese Kitten
1st BOB – 177 Veal & Smith’s Laokind Rogue Temptress (SIA m) F 12/1/2015 – Lilac base caramel girl of good type. Good width to head with large ears set in line with her even wedge. Profile is straight and her chin shows good depth. Her bite is level and tidy. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being a brilliant blue of acceptable depth. Slender neck, lithe body, fine legs and neat oval feet. Her tail is long and tapered and has a slight pip to the end. Points are a matching brownish grey and her body is off white and free from shading. Coat is very slightly long but lies close to the body and is fine in texture. Excellent temperament and condition. Pretty girl.
CLASS 921 – Ac Limit Kitten
1st – 166 Hirst’s Toghar Lorenzo Lamas (OSH em) M 19/4/2015 – Apricot boy of good type. Head needs a touch more width and he has large ears that are set almost in line with his long slightly pinched wedge. His profile is almost straight and his chin shows good depth with his bite being level. Oriental eye shape and set with the colour being pale green. Coat is an intense toned apricot which is sound to the root and at present shows very prominent spotted tabby markings. He did show a very small circle of white to his groin. It was very difficult to determine if it was a scattering of white hairs or in fact a white patch. In either case I fear it will hold back his show career. Coat is short, fine in texture and lies close to the body. Excellent temperament and condition.
