Generate themed registered-name ideas for a whole litter. Enter your prefix, choose a theme and (optionally) a sex, and we’ll suggest names — with the full character count so you stay inside the GCCF 30-character limit.
Name ideas
The count is the full registered name length (prefix + name + spaces). Anything over 30 characters is flagged in red — trim the name or shorten your prefix. Many names suit either sex, so they appear under both Female and Male. Names are ideas only; check the GCCF rules before registering.
Naming a whole litter, the easy way
When a litter arrives there is a lot to do, and naming the kittens shouldn’t be a last-minute scramble. This generator gives you a set of themed registered-name ideas in seconds — pop in your cattery prefix, choose a theme, and it suggests names with the full registered length shown next to each, so you can see at a glance which ones fit inside the GCCF’s 30-character limit.
Pick a theme for the whole litter
A shared theme makes a litter instantly more memorable — buyers remember the cattery that named a litter after constellations, ancient Egypt or rock legends, and it makes your prefix look planned and polished. There are twenty-two themes (or leave it on Surprise me to draw from all of them at once), and the pools are drawn from real GCCF Siamese registered names, so the ideas are proven rather than invented. A highlight is Oriental & Siam (Ming, Suki, Mandarin, Dragon, Lotus) — a nod to the breed’s own heritage that no generic generator offers — alongside Royalty & nobility, Magic & mystic, Warriors & legends, Weather & sky, Sweetheart & romance, Cat puns & wordplay (David Meowie, Purrlock Holmes) and Idioms & phrases (Touch of Class, Coup de Grace). For dozens more theme ideas and how to plan them, see our litter naming themes guide.
How to use it
Enter your prefix (optional, but it lets the tool show the true character count), pick a theme — or leave it on Surprise me to draw from all twenty-two at once — and choose how many names you need. Use the Sex filter for boy or girl names; many cat names suit either, so unisex ideas appear under both Female and Male. If you follow the traditional letter-of-the-litter system, set a start letter and every suggestion will begin with it. Each result shows the full name and its length out of 30 — anything over is flagged in red so you can trim it or shorten your prefix. Hit Shuffle again for a fresh set.
The GCCF naming rules in brief
A few rules govern every registered pedigree name. The full name — your prefix, the kitten’s name and the spaces between — must be 30 characters or fewer. Your prefix always comes first, so the longer it is, the less room you have to play with. Earned titles such as Champion, Premier or Imperial cannot be used as part of a name; they are awarded, not chosen. Names use letters plus a few permitted symbols, and should be unique rather than copying an existing cat. If you have not registered a prefix yet, our Cattery Prefix Generator helps you find a short, GCCF-friendly one, and our full guide to naming a pedigree kitten walks through every rule.
Boy or girl names
Naming a mixed litter? Use the Sex filter to pull boy or girl ideas, remembering that plenty of names suit either kitten. For a deeper list of male and female ideas — and the reassurance that a name has no bearing on a cat’s temperament — see our guide to male and female cat names.
Naming a Siamese or Oriental kitten
Breeding Siamese or Orientals? The Oriental & Siam theme nods to the breed’s heritage, and naming by point colour is a perennial favourite — Sable for a seal, Sky for a blue, Truffle for a chocolate. Our guide to Siamese and Oriental cat names goes through colour-led ideas in detail, and you can plan a colour-themed litter in advance with the colour predictor.
The letter of the litter
Many breeders give every kitten in a litter a name beginning with the same letter — a charming tradition that keeps littermates linked at a glance and helps you keep track across the years. Set a start letter in the generator and every suggestion will begin with it, whichever theme you choose. It is a small touch that makes a pedigree look beautifully organised.
Make the names your own
The suggestions are a springboard, not a rulebook. The most charming litters often mix a theme with something personal, and the generator is at its best as a starting point for your own ideas. For ready-made inspiration by style, browse our cattery name ideas, and for the full picture of how registered names work, see naming a pedigree kitten.

Kitten name generator: FAQ
Why does it show a character count?
Because a full GCCF registered name (prefix + name + spaces) can’t exceed 30 characters. The count shows the total so you can pick names that fit.
Can I get boy or girl names?
Yes — use the Sex filter. The gender tags come from how thousands of real Siamese were registered. Object-style names (flowers, gems, colours and the like) suit either sex, so they appear under both Female and Male. See our male and female cat names guide for more.
Are these names already taken?
The generator does not check names against existing registrations — it offers ideas. The GCCF checks availability when you register, so always have a couple of alternatives ready.
Can I make a whole litter start with the same letter?
Yes — set a start letter and every suggestion will begin with it, perfect for the traditional letter-of-the-litter system.
Does it only work for Siamese?
Not at all. The themes suit any pedigree breed — only the Oriental & Siam theme is breed-specific. The 30-character GCCF rule applies to all GCCF breeds.
